Most sports teams, schools, and community groups are welcome to fundraise with Double Good.
Your organization must follow Double Good’s Terms and Conditions and meet applicable eligibility and compliance requirements.
Why your organization may need to update its registration
With California’s AB 488 law, new registration requirements apply to certain fundraising activities. Organizations that fundraise with Double Good must maintain current and valid registration with the appropriate governing agencies.
If government records show your organization has invalid or outdated registration, you may be prevented from creating a fundraiser until the issue is resolved.
What registration means
Registration refers to your organization’s compliance status with required regulators, which may include:
- The IRS
- State charity regulators
- Other agencies that oversee nonprofit compliance
Your organization may need to update its registration due to:
- A missing annual IRS filing
- A missed state charity renewal deadline
- An expired or suspended charity registration
- Outstanding compliance or reporting issues
This does not necessarily mean your organization is no longer a nonprofit. In many cases, it means a filing, renewal, or compliance step needs attention.
How to update your status
To update your registration status:
- Check your organization’s status with the IRS.
- If your organization is registered in California, review your status with the California Attorney General’s office.
- If your organization operates in another state, check with that state’s charity regulator.
- Resolve any missing filings, renewals, or compliance issues directly with the appropriate agency.
- Allow time for government records to update.
Once your registration is current and reflected in official records, you’ll be able to create a fundraiser on Double Good.
Can Double Good override registration requirements?
No. Double Good cannot manually approve fundraisers or bypass registration requirements. The system relies on official government records to verify eligibility.
